Princeton Grit 4540 Evolution Disc Wheelset

The Princeton CarbonWorks Grit 4540 Evolution wheelset is a performance-oriented, feather-light and extremely responsive premium carbon all-road and gravel wheelset from Princeton CarbonWorks' innovative Evolution series. This wheelset has been developed specifically for demanding gravel races and fast endurance rides on mixed terrain, combining maximum lateral stiffness and uncompromising durability with the aerodynamic advantages of the distinctive undulating rim shape.

The construction is based on a fully hand-built carbon rim with a variable, sinusoidal aero profile that undulates between 40 mm and 45 mm in depth. What makes this Evolution generation unique is the integration of the patented Radially Staggered Lacing. Here the rim depth alternates per spoke hole between the drive side and the non-drive side, resulting in perfectly balanced spoke tension and superior lateral stiffness. The wheel also features an extremely wide internal rim width of 24 mm and a completely holeless, tapeless rim bed. Because there are no spoke holes in the rim bed, the construction is lighter, stiffer and immediately 100% airtight for tubeless use without the need for vulnerable rim tape.

• Weight: An impressively low rim weight of just 385 grams per rim. Depending on the chosen hub configuration (such as the Tactic TR01 v2), the complete wheelset weighs approximately 1320 to 1430 grams, which is exceptionally light and lively for a gravel-approved aero wheelset.
• Construction: Hand-built full carbon rim featuring the unique sinusoidal structure. With a score of 130 joules, its impact resistance is no less than 325% higher than the minimum UCI standard, guaranteeing maximum reliability on rough terrain and under hard external impacts.
• Rim profile: A profile optimised for aerodynamics and stability with a variable rim depth of 40 mm to 45 mm, an internal width of 24 mm and an external width of approximately 30 mm.
• Rim bed (Hooked): Equipped with a traditional hooked rim edge. This keeps the wheelset universally compatible with both modern tubeless systems and traditional folding tyres with an inner tube, and lets you ride at higher tyre pressure if desired.
• Tyre compatibility: Specifically designed for wider, modern road and gravel tyres. Performs optimally with tyres from 28 mm to 50 mm wide, so the set doubles flawlessly as a lightning-fast climbing set on the road and as a racy gravel wheelset.
• Hub & Drive: Fully configurable to your wishes with various top-class hubs, including the extremely reliable DT Swiss 180 / 240 EXP, the iconic Chris King, White Industries or the ultra-high-end Tactic Racing hubs with ceramic bearings.
• Axle system & Brakes: Fully designed for modern disc brake thru axles (12 x 100 mm front and 12 x 142 mm rear) with a Center Lock disc rotor mount (a specific rim brake version is also available).
• Cassette compatibility: Can be fitted with a Shimano HG, SRAM XDR or Campagnolo freehub body to integrate seamlessly with all modern 11- and 12-speed groupsets.
