ENVE AR40 Disc Wheelset

The ENVE Foundation AR40 wheelset is a performance-oriented, versatile and aerodynamic all-road and gravel wheelset from ENVE's Foundation line. These wheels have been developed specifically to offer the ultimate balance between speed on tarmac and reliable control on unpaved roads. Whether you are taking part in fast gravel races or seeking out rough terrain on an endurance ride, the AR40 combines aerodynamic advantages from the Formula 1 wind tunnel with ENVE's legendary robustness.

The construction is based on a carbon rim handmade in the USA with a 40 mm deep aero shape. What makes this wheelset unique is the integration of the patented Wide Hookless Bead technology. This extra-wide, hookless rim edge absorbs hard external impacts and considerably reduces the risk of pinch flats (snakebites) at low tyre pressure. The AR40 is built around the innovative ENVE INNERDRIVE™ Foundation rear hub. This hub uses an oversized 60-tooth ratchet system that provides direct power transfer with just 6 degrees of play, ensuring maximum durability and efficiency in all conditions.

Features

• Weight: An average of 1515 grams per pair (including tubeless tape and valves), which is very competitive and responsive for an aerodynamic, gravel-approved carbon wheelset.
• Construction: 100% carbon rim with ENVE's patented Molded Spoke Holes, which optimally preserve the structural strength of the carbon fibres. Equipped with reliable J-bend spokes and sturdy brass nipples for long-lasting stiffness.
• Rim profile: A balanced internal width of 25 mm and a rim depth of 40 mm, aerodynamically optimised for stable handling in crosswinds.
• Rim bed (Hookless): Fully hookless (straight-sidewall) design. This guarantees a seamless tyre-to-rim transition, lower rolling resistance and superior tubeless performance.
• Tyre compatibility: Specifically designed for modern, wider tubeless tyres. Optimally aero-efficient with 29 mm to 30 mm tyres, but widely usable for tyre widths from 27 mm up to 50 mm.
• Hub & Drive: ENVE INNERDRIVE™ Premium Foundation hubs with a 42 mm oversized steel ratchet drive system and high-quality steel bearings that automatically set the correct preload (Perfect Preload).
• Axle system & Brakes: Designed for standard disc brake thru axles (12 x 100 mm front and 12 x 142 mm rear) with a reliable Center Lock disc rotor mount.
• Cassette compatibility: Widely compatible with different drivetrains and readily available with a Shimano HG, SRAM XDR or Shimano MicroSpline (12-speed) freehub body.
